Class Descriptions
Etching
Saturday mornings from 10-12am & 12-2pm
Etching is a process in which the drawn line is incised using a corrosive into which a metal plate has been submerged. After the process is complete, the etched line holds ink, which is then printed on paper. We use ferric chloride, a corrosive salt, to etch into copper plates.
This structured class is suitable for all levels, from beginner to advanced. Pay by the class and create your own schedule. The option of back to back classes on Saturdays allows for a longer stretch for those who prefer to extend their studio time.

Block Print
Wednesday evenings from 6-8pm and Friday mornings from 10-12am
Block printing is a technique that uses a carved material such as linoleum or wood to transfer ink onto fabric or paper. The block serves as a stamp, with the final product resulting in a reverse image of the carving. Students who attend multiple classes will learn three main block printing techniques; single block, reduction, and multiple block.
Suitable for all levels. Join our fun, informative class, where we cover everything from carving technique, to image transfer, to using the press, and so much more. Class size limited to 4 to allow for plenty of individual attention. Pay by the class and create your own schedule.
Mixed Media

For the slightly more advanced student, this 3 hour class is ideal for those who have taken at least 3 Etching or Block Print classes at the studio, and feel confident using the press on their own and know studio clean up procedures. Instruction is always on hand for those who want to learn new techniques, while the longer class allows for time to work independently.
Using what you have learned in Etching or Block Print classes, Mixed Media allows you to delve more deeply into the many ways to create a print. Combine etching and block print, create a monoprint, make a woodcut, learn the art of chine colle, master the subtleties of aquatint or mezzotint...the possibilities are endless!
Thursday afternoons from 4-7pm and Fridays from 12:30-3:30pm
